The data obtained from our return to in-person instruction survey helped to inform us on 2021-22 academic plans.
Below is a letter that our Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction shared with families informing them of the survey results:
Thank you for submitting your application for the Ladue Online Academy. We regret to inform you there was not enough interest in the program to create virtual classes at each elementary grade level for the 2021-22 school year. Our only viable option to consider using a Ladue teacher is to combine grade levels. However, we understand that this might not be ideal for some families and is not what you thought you were signing up for when you applied for the Ladue Online Academy. Therefore, we are asking for your feedback on the two options which we are considering:
1. Creating combined grade level courses
a) We would have a combined 2nd- and 3rd-grade classes and a combined 4th- and 5th-grade classes. Students would take art, music, and PE classes virtually in a combined class as well.
b) These classes would be taught by a Ladue School District teacher and will follow a similar schedule to this school year.
c) Students would need to attend in-person for their Gifted Services, if applicable.
d) Students with IEP’s will work with their case manager to determine the best way to receive services.
2. Utilizing our Launch partnership with Springfield Public Schools
a) Students would be in their assigned grade level class.
b) These classes would be taught by a Springfield Public School teacher and the schedule will be determined by their teacher but will primarily be synchronous (or live) instruction similar to this year.
c) Students with IEP’s and other services can either attend in-person in the Ladue School District for their services or receive them through Launch.
Please complete the form below to let us know which option you would prefer. We are not committing to offering both options.
Once we have the final input from you, we will have to decide if we have enough interest to make combined classes work for this upcoming year. If we do not, the only other option will be Launch. We will utilize your feedback to make our final decision.
Please submit one form for each child.
Feel free to contact me with any questions.
